Demographic projections and student population patterns are a fluid dynamic that must be tracked constantly. Weatherford ISD is doing just that by contracting with Templeton Demographics for regular updates. According to the most recent demographic report in Fall 2014, strong growth in the DFW housing market is trending into Parker County and it is projected that Weatherford ISD will grow an approximately 300 students in the next five years and 780 students within the next ten years.
The district hired an architectural firm, Huckabee, who has exclusively served public school districts in Texas for over 47 years, to help WISD evaluate our facilities and develop options to address them. Huckabee completed a comprehensive facility assessment of every building in the district, studying 25 components, like building code compliance, energy management , handicap accessibility, life safety, security and educational adequacy.
The goals of the assessment was to:
• provide the basis for the ongoing planning for the operation and maintenance of district facilities;
• evaluate and establish a detailed report card for each facility in the district based on 25 component areas; and,
• provide data to support decisions about additions, renovations or new construction in both educational adequacy and facility integrity.
The following report outlines deficiencies in each component area.
